Flasher License: Unleash the Power Within

The Flasher License is the core of the MHD system, granting you the ability to flash your DME with MHD Off-The-Shelf (OTS) maps, JB4 backend maps, and custom-tuned maps.

Features of the Flasher License:

1. Market-Leading Flash Speeds: Experience the fastest flash times available, especially when using the MHD WIFI Adapter. Initial flashes take just 2-3.5 minutes, while map switching is lightning-fast at 10-19 seconds.
2. Stage 0 Stock Power Option: All flash options can be added to the Stage 0 setting, allowing for a customizable baseline.
3. Engine Code Reading and Deletion + Adaptations Reset: Diagnose and clear engine codes, and reset adaptations as needed.

Available Flash Options:

• Exhaust Burble Adjustments: Fine-tune exhaust burbles with customizable duration, aggressiveness, speed, and RPM parameters, switchable per drive mode (Sport mode).
• Startup Roar Control: Customize the startup sound of your engine.
• Cold Start Noise Reduction (B58GEN2 Specific): Reduce cold start noise levels, configurable per map slot on B58GEN2 engines.

MHD+: Advanced Customization and Control

The MHD+ feature unlocks a suite of advanced custom coding options, taking your B58 tuning to the next level.

1. On-the-Fly Map Switching: Select up to 4 map slots within the same stage to adapt to varying fuel quality (e.g., pump gas and ethanol blends like E30) or adjust power levels dynamically. For flex-fuel setups, you can configure 4 pump gas maps for quick switching based on available fuel. Furthermore, a power level slider allows you to reduce power output in 5% increments, down to 60%, ideal for valet mode or reduced-power cruising maps.

2. Antilag System: Engage antilag to rapidly build boost while stationary, then launch with maximum power. Activate by holding the cruise control RES button (or cruise control speed down on B58 GEN2) and applying full throttle. The system modulates engine calibration to build boost, and releasing the button unleashes the stored power. Boost build time varies with turbo size, but even large upgraded turbos can reach high boost levels within 1-2 seconds. Comprehensive safety measures are integrated, including coolant temp, EGT temp, usage duration limits, and cooldown periods. OTS users can adjust the antilag boost target within safe limits.

3. Switchable Burble per Map Slot: Customize burble settings for each map slot. Set your primary Map 1 burble and then adjust aggressiveness and duration for other slots, enabling on-the-fly burble changes via MHD+ Map Switching.

4. On-The-Fly Exhaust Flap Control: Take manual control of your exhaust flap. Choose always open, always closed (opens under high load), or OEM operation via the MHD+ Live Menu.

5. Ethanol Content Quick View: Monitor ethanol content directly through the MHD+ Live Menu when a compatible Ethanol Content Analyzer is installed.

6. Native Motiv ReFlex Controller Integration: Full two-way CANBUS integration with the Motiv ReFlex controller allows for advanced features like DME limp mode activation upon Port Injection (PI) injector errors and DME control of external wastegates. B58 GEN2 boasts MHD+ advanced ReFlex integration, providing comprehensive control over supplemental port injection and auxiliary outputs (WGDC, extra fuel pumps, nitrous, etc.). A single ReFlex firmware flash to the latest MHD+ supporting version is required, after which all tuning adjustments can be managed directly within the DME for custom tunes.

7. Overrun Brap Noise: Enable the distinctive “brap” sound characteristic of M-cars during throttle lift-off after acceleration.

8. No Lift Shift (6MT GEN2 Only): Execute rapid shifts without releasing the throttle in 6-speed manual transmission GEN2 models.

9. Custom TCU Limiter Removal (GEN2 Only): Remove the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) limiter while preserving all safety features and OEM Launch Control functionality.

11. MHD Real-Time Tuning (B58GEN2): Introducing the world’s first live tuning capability for modern BMWs. During custom tuning, this feature enables real-time editing of major engine tables (including map switch and flex-fuel slots) while the engine is running. Live tuning for additional tables, including Advanced ReFlex PI control, is planned for future updates.

Monitor License: Keep a Close Eye on Your Engine’s Health

The Monitor License provides real-time insights into your engine’s performance. Utilize a customizable gauge layout with up to 8 fully adjustable gauges to monitor over 50 engine parameters at a glance. Background logging is always active. Activate full logging mode to save data to a standard CSV file for detailed analysis using the integrated log viewer. Free log analysis services are also often available.

Key Monitor Parameters: Boost, Boost Target, Lambda (AFR), Intake Air Temp (IAT), Ignition Timing per Cylinder, Coolant Temperature, Oil Temperature, Oil Pressure, Transmission Temperature, High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) pressure, Throttle Position, Wastegate Duty Cycle (WGDC), RPM, Speed, Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT), and more.

Advanced parameters not typically exposed by BMW are also accessible for in-depth monitoring and tuning (software version dependent, availability without MHD flash varies), including Timing Corrections per Cylinder, Boost setpoint, Active torque limiters, etc.

• Stage 1 Maps (Up to 420HP/580NM, Up to 440HP on B58TU1): Available in 91oct/95ron, 93oct/98ron, 95oct/102ron for stock vehicles and those equipped with a gasoline particulate filter.
• Stage 2 Maps (Up to 470HP/630NM, Up to 500HP on B58TU1): Available in 91oct/95ron, 93oct/98ron, 95oct/102ron for vehicles with a high-flow downpipe and without a gasoline particulate filter.

Important Notes Regarding DME Unlock and Legal Use

• B58 GEN1 (USA) Cars (Pre-06/2020 with Updated Software): May require a DME bench unlock for OBD flashing. Use the “Unlock Check Button” in the MHD App to verify. If an unlock is needed, visit our MHD Unlocker Page or contact a local tuner.

• B58 GEN2 Cars (Pre-06/2020): Always require a DME bench unlock for OBD flashing. Refer to our MHD Unlocker Page or a local tuner for unlock services.

• Cars Produced Post-06/2020: Tuning requires a special FEMTO unlock due to enhanced tuning protection. Your DME must be sent to FEMTO in Finland for unlocking. MHD will automatically detect the FEMTO unlock after it’s performed. Flashing back to stock on FEMTO-unlocked DMEs will NOT remove the FEMTO unlock.
