BMW Road Map TAIWAN WAY 2022-2 FAQs

If you encounter any questions during the map update process for your BMW Road Map TAIWAN WAY 2022-2, please consult the frequently asked questions below for assistance.

1. WHERE CAN I FIND THE USB PORT IN MY BMW FOR MAP UPDATES?

The USB interface required for updating your maps is typically located in the glove compartment of your BMW. However, depending on your vehicle model and specifications, if you cannot find a USB port in the glove compartment, please check the center console area or the storage compartment situated within the center armrest. Refer to your vehicle’s manual for the precise location if needed.

2. WHAT HAPPENS IF I INTERRUPT THE MAP UPDATE PROCESS? WILL I LOSE DATA?

No data loss will occur if you need to stop the update process during your journey. The BMW navigation system is designed to automatically resume the update from where it left off when you restart your vehicle, provided that the USB drive remains connected to the USB port. This ensures a seamless and convenient update experience even with interruptions.

3. WHY IS MY NAVIGATION MAP UPDATE NOT WORKING?

If you are experiencing issues with updating your navigation map, please verify the following potential causes:

a. BMW Navigation Certificate (FSC) and VIN Matching: Ensure that the BMW Navigation Certificate (FSC) you are using is specifically generated for your vehicle and that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the FSC matches your car’s VIN. You can find your VIN on your vehicle registration document for verification.

b. Activation Code Entry Errors: Double-check the activation code you entered, paying close attention to avoid confusion between similar-looking characters. Specifically, be careful not to mix up the number zero (0) with the letter O, and the number one (1) with the letter I. Entering the activation code accurately is crucial for a successful map update.

4. WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO UPDATE MY BMW DIGITAL ROAD MAP?

Updating your BMW digital road map is a straightforward process that can be completed in a few steps:

a. Prepare USB Flash Drive: Format a USB flash drive with a FAT32 file system. This file system is compatible with your BMW’s navigation system and necessary for the update process.

b. Download and Extract Map Data: Download the BMW Road Map TAIWAN WAY 2022-2 map data to your computer. Once downloaded, extract all the files contained within the NAVDxxx xxx folder directly to the root directory of your prepared USB flash drive. Make sure you copy the files inside the NAVDxxx xxx folder, not the folder itself.

c. Initiate Update in Vehicle: Insert the USB flash drive into the designated USB port in your BMW. Turn on your vehicle’s ignition and navigate to the navigation update menu on your iDrive screen. The system should automatically detect the update files on the USB drive and prompt you to begin the update process. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the update.

d. Enter FSC Code: When prompted, you will need to enter the FSC code to activate the map update. Input the FSC code carefully, as described in point 3b, to ensure correct entry.

Important Note: The map download link typically provides only the map data and does not include the FSC Code. If you require an FSC Code to activate your BMW Road Map TAIWAN WAY 2022-2, you will need to order it separately. Please contact your authorized BMW dealer or a reputable online provider to obtain an FSC code specific to your vehicle and map version.
