2. Copy the provided UPDxxxxx.BIN file (ignore UPD00000.BIN for now) onto a blank USB flash drive (FAT32 file system, recommended capacity 2-8GB).
3. Turn on your BMW’s ignition or start the engine.
4. Plug the USB drive into the USB port, typically located in the glove box or center console.
5. Wait for at least 30 seconds, then unplug the USB drive.
6. Reboot the iDrive system by pressing and holding the rotary volume button for 15-20 seconds. Alternatively, lock the car for 10 minutes or use Tool32 from EDIABAS with nbtevo.prg, job STEUERGERAETE_RESET.
7. The iDrive system will reboot, displaying “BMW ConnectedDrive” and may reboot several times automatically. Do not interrupt this process.
8. For ID4 units: All FSC codes will be installed except for Map Codes. Enter Map codes via iDrive or place them in a folder named “FSC” on the USB drive.
9. For ID5 units: If prompted for an activation code, create a folder named “FSC” in the root of the USB drive and copy the included .fsc file into it. Plug the USB drive back in to initiate the update.
10. Enjoy your newly activated features.

2. OBD2 Activation:

For EVO CarPlay activation and other functionalities, the SmartBimmer tool can also operate via the OBD2 port.
